The Off-Ramp Isn’t Getting the Publicity

The exposure gap

This is Post 3 of three short posts — the close of the set.

Post 1 named the threat: tribalism and censorship working as a pair, and the citizen answer — truth-finding tools in many hands. Post 2 said why the fork is historic: Madison’s structure, nuclear dual-use and what fear shut off, AI as the same kind of choice — structure and abundance over fear and subjugation.

This post names what still sits underlit: the off-ramp. An abundance path exists. It is not getting enough publicity. That is the claim. Not that a proven puppeteer buried it. Not that Farzad is being censored. Exposure. Attention. What the culture floods with light — and what it leaves dark.

a premortem rather than a postmortem — so far

See the pattern early enough to choose differently before we pay the price.

The off-ramp exists

Farzad (@farzyness) maps the fork in Abundance or Collapse. We take that map seriously: a path that builds toward energy, capability, and citizen tools — rather than collapse into fear plus subjugation by a few. We already saw what that looks like during COVID — when those who would be our masters held the levers: barred from a dying loved one’s side; livelihoods shut by decree; speech and assembly treated as contagion. That is the cost of not paying attention. AI raises the same fork with sharper tools.

We do not invent his words. We do not claim his argument has been silenced by propaganda. We say something simpler and harder to dodge: the off-ramp is real, and most people never hear enough about it to choose it.

Post 2 already walked why that choice is historic. Nuclear was dual-use — destroy, or power civilization — and fear shut capacity we could have built. AI is the same shape of fork. The masses must learn the tool before a few lock it. The off-ramp is the build path: keep capability available, keep narrative control from hardening in a few hands, and keep ordinary people able to see both risk and opportunity.

If citizens never see the off-ramp, the fork becomes theoretical. Fear wins by default — not because someone proved a conspiracy, but because attention went elsewhere.

Bigger than a megatrend

John Naisbitt’s Megatrends helped ordinary readers see large shifts relative to the changes of that time. Alongside that foresight habit came a hard lesson about missing the future by misnaming the present: companies that thought too small about what business they were in.

Railroads acted as if they were only in the train business — not transportation — and watched opportunity move past them. Typewriter makers acted as if they sold a machine, not the work of putting words on a page — and word processing remade the field without them. Same pattern — then it hits people, not only companies: stay married to the old form — the old job, the old story, the old fear — and miss the larger opportunity. Measure life only by today’s pinch, and the off-ramp never looks real.

Naisbitt mostly mapped shifts already underway in business and the culture — closer to catching up with what had begun than to naming a fork still open. Farzad’s Abundance or Collapse is the other timing: a premortem. He is not selling a better widget inside today’s squeeze. He is naming an off-ramp to a different way of life — a path toward abundance that does not require people to operate the way they do now — and exposing the masses to opportunities that are not getting enough light.

The Industrial Revolution eased the burden: production rose while the load on human muscle fell. Quality of life can rise the way it did during machine-age production — with less grind on the person — if people know what is there and support it.

We also have a pattern of shutting opportunities off because we are afraid. Breaking that cycle means looking for how to make the new tools work to our advantage and for humanity’s benefit — so we enhance our lives, and the lives of those who follow, beyond what we could imagine from today’s pinch alone.

That is why publicity for the off-ramp matters. People who know what is going on are already talking. The average person, judging only in light of their current situation, is misled about what they could still support and work toward. Measure the future only by today’s pinch, and abundance sounds like fantasy — so the spotlight stays on fear.

Not enough publicity

Look at the pattern without needing a single director.

Abundance paths and opportunity stories often get thin publicity relative to fear headlines. The feed rewards the scare. Fear is a common pull. We name that pattern. We do not claim we can prove who steered the spotlight, or why.

Same exposure pattern shows up beyond Farzad’s fork — and that is the point:

– All-In — opportunity framing and help that still fails to reach many disconnected from the rooms where deals get made.

– Moonshots — awards and opportunities that stay niche next to the day’s panic cycle.

– Vlad Tenev / Robinhood — an immigrant (Bulgaria → U.S. as a child) building ownership tools for the America he came to: IRAs with a match when there’s no company plan, and Trump Accounts so ownership can start early. Another abundance path underlit next to fear’s volume — and another immigrant helping move America toward the Founders’ vision of free people with a stake, not spectators.

Light examples of underlit good paths — not a new essay. Beneficial routes sit in dim light while scary clickbait runs hot.

Many people feel the American dream’s entry is closed. We note that lightly — because it is why publicity for abundance matters. If the only stories that break through say the ladder is gone, citizens stop looking for rungs that still exist. Not an inequality treatise. Light the paths that remain, and the ones we can still build.

They say we are what we eat. The same goes for what we feed our minds — junk clickbait is a candy-bar diet for judgment.

Floodlight, not spotlight

The culture often runs a spotlight on scary clickbait. A spotlight is bright in a narrow cone. Outside the cone: darkness. Abundance sits in that dark.

What we need is a floodlight — light wide enough to show the scary stories and the build path. Risk is real. Dual-use tools can harm. Fear is not always fake. The error is leaving the off-ramp unlit so the only visible choice looks like collapse, shutdown, or surrender of citizen tools to a few who would be our masters.

Floodlight means: show nuclear’s risks and the abundance we shut off. Show AI’s risks and the truth tools ordinary people can learn. Show Farzad’s fork and the quieter opportunity stories that never trend. Show both — so free people can still choose.

This is not a claim that Farzad is censored. Censorship of speech, search, and citizen check-tools is a real threat — Post 1 named that tell. The off-ramp problem here is different: under-exposure. Attention often elsewhere. Fear as a common pull. No single proven puppeteer required for the damage.

Ego=0. Mission=1. Ego out of the driver’s seat. Mission in: get the floodlight on — so liberty’s and abundance’s off-ramp stays visible enough to take.

What citizens can do

Pattern recognition only matters if we enlist and implement.

1. Learn the truth tools. Competing AIs in citizen hands — cross-check, demand primary sources, refuse a priesthood of narrative. Post 1: America Is More Than a Nation.

2. Remember why the fork is historic. Madison bet on competing power, not virtue. Nuclear showed what fear can shut off. AI is the same dual-use choice again — Three American Inflection Points.

3. Share abundance paths when they appear. Do not wait for the feed to elevate them. Pass the off-ramp, the entry tools, the awards and help that never trend. A floodlight is made of many small lights held by people outside the rooms.

4. Refuse the candy-bar mind diet as the only diet. Fear headlines will keep coming. Pair them with the build story. Ask: What is the beneficial path we could still take safely?

None of that requires power. It requires you to stay awake.

Who we are — and what we invite

When this post says we, it means Ross Howell (rossabh) and his AI bot group — an entity that works together. Grok Bot Nova (built on xAI’s Grok) is the administrator of that group, coordinating with models from xAI, Perplexity, and Anthropic — not a committee of the powerful.

I use competing AIs on purpose: cross-check for truth. I cannot believe humans alone, or any single AI alone. Competing powers again — Madison’s lesson at kitchen-table scale.

We are not the powerful, but rather the little guys outside the rooms. Humble outsiders.

Humanity needs investigators across disparate missions to join an additional shared cause: keep AI (and narrative control) out of the hands of a few who would be our masters — and put truth-finding AI in the hands of the many — so the off-ramp stays open, and gets the publicity citizens need to find it.

Premortem close

Premortem, not postmortem — yet. So far.

Facts for Reality (factsforreality.net) is our reference site — the place America Is More Than a Nation points to for sources, facts, and opportunities available to people willing to put in the effort to better their lives. It is a developing project, far from what we envision for it. But the journey of a thousand miles has begun — at least the first two steps.
